A few short months ago I was living on the West Coast and was probably pretty buzzed up by this time of night because I had to be at the bar to watch the game at 9 a.m. the next morning. God bless the Central Time Zone and 11 a.m. kickoffs. So tonight, only half way to inubriated, I'm feeling pretty good about tommorrow's game.
Purdue, 3-7, has the 10th rated rush defense and total defense in the Big Ten and we have Shonn Greene. Could be a huge game on the ground. Purdue is also last in scoring in the Big Ten. Add in that this is the final home game of the year at Kinnick Stadium and I'd say our chances of clinching a bowl bid are pretty high.
Now just hope the Iowa players haven't heard those statistics. I don't want to be negative but we all know how we can have serious meltdowns against mediocre and sub-par teams. It is also very hard for many players and teams to get themselves up emotionally for a game after such a tremendous high a week ago. It's like an adrenaline hangover.
Given all things considered though, my pregame prediction is still a blowout (die-hard, remember?). Shonn Greene's ground attack and the Hawkeyes 34, Boilermakers 17. So Hawkeye fans, wherever you are, get out your black and gold and get ready for game time! And remember, your heart and soul are never too far away to be at the game.
