This really pisses me off. I mean it. I'm madder than a one-legged man in an ass kicking contest. How in the hell can an undefeated team (6-0, 2-0) ranked 11th in the country riding a 10 game win-streak be underdogs to an unranked, unproven team who the Hawkeyes absolutely beat up last year? Only in the Big Ten. Unbelievable. I mean really, what else does this football team need to do to gain a little respect?
I'll tell you what it needs to do; exactly what it has been doing all season long, win. Win Saturday, win next Saturday, win the Saturday after that. You get the idea. Just keep playing hard-nosed Hawkeye football and let the pollsters(sons-of-bitches) and Vegas keep trying to ignore you. Sooner or later they wil get it right. Maybe.
While Iowa should certainly be a favorite to win Saturday (11 a.m., @ WI), they by no means are going to have any easy time of things. This Wisconsin Badgers team (5-1, 2-1) is tough. They have a 34-3 record at home since the start of the 2004 season and look pretty good on both sides of the ball thus far this season. But just like Michigan last week, they haven't faced a Defense nearly as tough as the Hawkeyes unit yet.
So what are the keys to a Hawkeye victory Saturday? Same as every week. Defense. I am hard-pressed to say that one key would be for Ricki Stanzi to not throw an interception, particularly a pick-six, but we all know it will happen. And it doesn't seem to matter much other than how nervous I get in the 4th quarter every week. They still win, even with our QB giving every other team we play 6 points. Maybe Ricki just feels bad for the other team. Maybe he just gets off on tight games. Who knows. I just would like to go one damn game without him throwing an interception. Please Lord, just one?
Another game-changer will be Tony Moeaki who is coming off a career best week and currently leads the Hawkeyes with 17 receptions and 3 TD grabs. And that's in just 3 games. Between the Moeaki and Johnson-Koulianos recieving threat and the balanced rushing attack led by freshmen Robinson and Wegher, I see no reason at all to believe that Iowa will not win again tommorrow and finally break in to the nation's Top 10. My precdiction, IA-30, WI-17.
So here we go again Hawkeye fans. It's almost game time again so get out your black and gold gear, find a comfy seat in front of the TV (or something warm to wear if you are lucky enough to go to the game), and get ready to cheer on your undefeated Iowa Hawkeyes! Game on bitches!
