Is it almost game time again? It's about time. Let's just hope that tommorrow's game is nowhere near as exciting as last week's squeaker against Michigan State. I don't think my heart can handle another shock like that. I just want to see a good ol' fashioned ass kickin'. Start to finish.
That may not be as easy the 17.5 point spread would indicate. Indiana (4-4, 1-3) has won 2 of their last 3 meeting versus the Hawkeyes including an embarassing loss during homecoming in 2007. Two of Indiana's recent losses include a fourth quarter comeback by Michigan to lose 36-33 and a blown 28-3 lead against Northwestern to lose 29-28. While the Hoosier's defense may not be too spectacular, their offense is filled with talented athletes have have proven they can put the ball in the endzone. Of course they haven't played a Defense like the Hawkeye's Defense.
Iowa (8-0, 4-0) comes back to Kinnick as the first Hawkeye football team to start a season a perfect 8-0 and ranked in the top ten in all national polls including 4th in the BCS. They are also the only team in Big Ten history to defeat Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan State on the road in a single year. And did you know that the BCS computer rankings have Iowa at number 1? That's right, number 1. But I promised myself I wouldn't get all worked up and rant and rave about how we still get no respect from the rest of the country.
So I won't.
What I will do is remind everyone that this season is far from over and the higher our Hawkeyes climb the further and steeper the fall they will face with just one misstep. I've seen too many times a team come out lackadaisical after a win as emotional and important as the game we witnessed last weekend. This can't happen this week. Every game from here on out is the most important game of the season. No opponent can be overlooked. Nothing can be left on the field. And with starters Dace Richardson and Adam Robinson out for the remainder of the regular season and Colin Sandeman doubtful for tommorrow, the Hawkeyes are going to have to step up and prove, once again, that they are as good as I've been telling you all they are.
But I don't mean to be a negative Nelly here. I have nothing but the utmost faith that the Hawkeyes will come out on top tommorrow. If I know how much is at stake against the lowly Hoosiers, you damn well know that each and every Hawkeye coach and player know. That being said, I'm gonna predict a 27-13 Hawkeye victory to go along with the eight other wins of the season. So get ready Hawkeye nation, it's almost game time again. So do whatever lucky ritual you do because it's been working so far and we can't afford to let this historical season get away from us.
Go Hawkeyes!
