At a time of year when college football fans start to convulse from withdrawal symptoms, Hawkeye fans still have a lot to cheer for.
Damn, it feels good to be a Hawkeye.

The legend of Bob Sanders continues to thrive in Iowa.
It has been six years since Sanders last played for the Hawkeyes, but his bone-crunching tackles epitomized smash-mouth football and left fans with a long-lasting impression.
The Hitman is quite possibly the best strong safety to step foot on the field of Kinnick Stadium and one of the hardest hitting defensive backs to ever play in the Big Ten.
Sanders' hard-hitting, hard-working style earned him first team All-Big Ten three years in a row (2001, 2002, 2003).
His speed and agility made him nearly impossible for opposing players to avoid and helped him capture 348 tackles during his career at Iowa, seventh highest in Iowa history.
He spotted plays quickly and was extremely difficult for teams to block. His 25 tackles against the Indiana Hoosiers in 2001 sits as the fourth-best single game total ever at Iowa.
Sanders put a fear deep into the soul of his opponents with the way he played football for the Hawks.

It's official. After all the calculations, speculation and trepidation, the Iowa Hawkeyes have now been invited to a BCS Bowl game for the second time in school history. The 10-2, 10th ranked Hawkeyes will face the 11-2, 9th ranked Georgia Tech Yellowjackets in Miami on Tuesday, January 5th. Get your tickets now Hawkeye fans and get ready for a warm-weather beatdown of the Yellowjackets. This is gonna be fun!
While we should all be happy with an Orange Bowl bid, I am a bit disappointed in the opponent (for the second year in a row). While Georgia Tech is a very talented and well-coached football team that does deserve to be there, I had been hoping for a bit more of a marketable and marquee game. Something along the lines of Boise State or Cincinatti. But I will not sit here and pout about playing in Miami or what could have been. Way to go Hawkeyes! We're proud of you and proud to be the Hawkeye nation!
